In college, I came across people who were so full of themselves, acting as if they were privy to the coolest things in the world and ergo, thought they were the coolest things in the world. I came to speculate (and occasionally prove myself right) that these people were total nobodies in high school and the minute they got a taste of what it was like to be relevant and hip, they simply couldn’t afford to let it go.

When I started work, I came across people who were so full of themselves, acting as if they were privy to the coolest things in the world and ergo, thought they were the coolest things in the world. This time around, I’m speculating that they were total nobodies in college and once had a taste of what it was like to move within scenes (even if they’re just at its fringes and not being shakers and movers themselves), they simply couldn’t afford to let it go.

People, I feel so fucking sorry for you if you choose to define your life by the events you go to, the places you’re seen at, the people you rub elbows with, the clothes you wear, the music you listen to, the books you claim you have read, and the extreme sport of the moment you hopped yourself into. That’s not life and that’s not truth.
